May 7, 2007Hey all, for you guys that know about the new hemi or have had this problem. The truck idles fine. Its runs along fine as long as you give it gas and go. If you are going along at 50- 60 mph and let up on the gas it misses. It will miss if you have to go slow like being in heavy traffic. The light that looks like a camera is on. I just turned over 40000 miles. Truck runs fine other other than that. We are suppose to leave for Myrtle Beach on Sat. thanks in advance for any ideas...........Shirley Jo
May 7, 2007"The light that looks like a camera is on."
Do you mean the check engine light? ....does it look like a motor? If so...then you need to get it checked out before your long trip...could means trouble for you on down the line.
I would not recommend you take the trip, until you get someone to look into it..just my
May 7, 2007ok I got the code off the truck. P0404 EGR FLOW CKT Range/perf......Shirley Jo
May 8, 2007Problem with the EGR valve when it's "open". Should be covered under the Federal Emissions warranty - depending on age and mileage.
May 8, 2007the dealer said it isn't covered under warrenty. Its got 40,188 miles on it. The dealer wants to put it on dianostics for a hundred bucks to make sure that is what it is. I hope this isn't whats gonna start happening to my truck......Shirley Jo
May 8, 2007If thats the only code you got, I wouldn't let them put it under diagnostics for $100.
Also... Federal emissions are usually for 80,000-100,000 miles but the dealers don't want to tell you that. I'd do some more looking into it.
May 8, 2007would you change the egr valve? Really easy to change........Shirley Jo
May 8, 2007Stevens03 is correct, there's a Federal Emissions law that REQUIRES certain parts of the emissions system be covered regardless of the vehicle warranty. Here's a link to the Look in your owner's warranty to under the Federal emission's warranty section - not the Dodge Warranty.
Since DCX is losing their every chance they get you get stuck with the bill. Not only a deal that they profit from instead of paying out, but the dealer makes more when you pay - as warranty labor and parts are less $$$ for them.
I would replace the EGR but my biggest concern would be why it failed.
May 8, 2007Right what I was thinking and out of the Warranty book
"Specified major emission control components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles"
Exhaust Gas Recirculation System
EGR valve thermal vacuum switch
EGR solenoid EGR spacer plate
EGR backpressure transducer Sensor and switches use to
control EGR flow
Dealers suck! They try and get out of anything. Knowledge is Power.
May 13, 2007my truck did the same thing and it was the egr valve. the dealer covered it under vthe emission law...
